Honestly? Very underrated game imho.
Don't let yourself get fooled by the cute design - it is a challenging game with emotional weight.
The story is nice, beautiful and emotional while handling hard topics with care. The animations are reeeeally well done - the combat as much as the cutscenes. The sound design is absolutely beautiful; the rots are sooooooo fffkin cute and the melodies are holding up to the emotional weight.
I played it on normal difficulty as a relatively new person to 'soulslike' games and I found it challenging enough, without getting frustrated.

The boss fights are very well done, the topics of grief, anxiety and fault are handles with care and the rots are the cutest buddies I had since BD-1 from SW: Jedi Survivor :D

I love this game. It is beautiful, it is atmospheric, I have grown incredibly attached to the rot with their adorable smiles and cute little hats, but this game is unforgiving, and dare I say it, unfair, which feels like the design ethos for this game.

I'd still recommend it for the atmosphere, and if you like the aesthetic. But I think people who just want a laid back game to go through and just experience the world might get annoyed with the combat difficulty even on story mode. Easy, this game is not. Difficult? needlessly so but not impossible. Also there's too many buttons I wish they just consolidated a little more but that's a nitpick at this point, even if I wish the dodge and dash buttons weren't two separate prompts.

If you get this game, just know that the actual combat mechanics might give you headaches.
