Play the Demo first, dont buy before trying.
Kudos for the Demo. Played the original on the PS 2 many times over. This remake ( played only the Demo ) is not my cup of tea.

Graphics are bad ( similar to AI Slop, reminds of original TES Oblivion Graphics ) and the performance on Steam Demo was ok, reducing all graphics settings to medium.

Combat is not very intuitive - sometimes after one shot in the head you finish-move the enemy with one hit melee, sometimes not.

Stealth kills are possible - if you crouch from behind you can do a "Solid Snake" kill move.

Enemies swarm you in the village Chainsaw fight. I never died playing the original PS2 on normal and professional mode , you could kill all enemies plus chainsaw miniboss with shoutgun-grenades or cheese on the Bell Tower kicking the stairs down ( playing the professional mode first time ). Here they kill you easy and fast.

Spoiler : White Dog in the opening beartrap scene is dead : (

Spoiler: The dog is not dead.
What a shame, so sorry the game wasn't good for you 🥀
It is what demos are for. It is better to lose a sale than to create a detractor filled with resentment at having their money wasted on something that they will not enjoy. I gauged the quality of this remix to be sufficient for me to be willing to buy the game for a steep discount, which is what I recently did.
I still prefer the gameplay loop of the source material even though I adjusted pretty quickly to Hardcore mode (with a busted 'A' button on my current controller).
