If you´ve been intrested for a while, I´m sure it won´t disappoint you, Amazing music, Story, characters, and much more
Nier Automata will probably be unlike anything you've ever played before. Be ready for tight gameplay, a well orchestrated storyline, an even better orchestrated soundtrack and a looming existential dread that increases the longer you play the game.
So what Games do you like then?

Nier Automata is melancholic, dramatic, action-packed, stylish, eccentric and philosophical. It also has PHENOMENAL music!

If you like games like that, go for it.

I like Crpgs and Souls-likes and im into tactical RPG's.

If i had to do a top 5 id say (not in this order)

Morrowind
Elden Ring
Shenmue 2
Pillers Of Eternity Deadfire
Fallout2
Wasteland 3

Thats more then 5 but id be here all day listing my favorite games xD I have them posted on my profile though
I say, go for it. NieR:Automata is one of a kind. It's nothing like Morrowind but just like Morrowind, Nier:Automata is a Masterpiece.
Music is excellent, I've it as my playlist.
Story will hit emotions, it's no problem to run over a pedestrian in GTA but it's hard to kill machines when you reach a specific point in N:A.
Combat, it's kind of a slash thing but I'm not interested in those slash games while here I absolutely love the combat system.
Side quests, well if you skip every line, they are nothing, but if you read, they are something.
Leveling, like in other good games, you're not limited to quest rewards for leveling up, so you can easily over level early in the game.
Chips, those are your enchanted items which will help you to progress in the game.
Game has 3 Routes to go through. Route A, the one you start is fine but there are many things which will leave you without answers. Route B will answer most of them, but Route C, that one always gets me.
Just advice, please start on Easy mode and use Auto-Evade chip. At the very beginning game shows you, it won't hold your hand. Image you just started a new game in Morrowind and hit the first guard.

<u arrogance and hard headed-ness wont let me play on anything but the hardest setting xD

Im one of those gamers of beats my head against a wall until i get the job done lmao.

And as far as GTA. Idk if you were just using an example or if you think im heavily into GTA since i recently played it. Dont get me wrong, i really enjoy the GTA series and ive played and finished them all but i wouldnt say its even in my top 5 favorite series.

But idk, ive been thinking about diving into this game. The combat, from what ive seen looks really fun and i love the fact you have to beat it multiple times before you get the true ending. I love stuff like that in games or just games with secrets in general.
It´s a great game. Play Metal Gear Rising too if you like action - it´s actually a better game in some aspects.

For your own sake, don't do it.
For better or worse, hard and very hard in this game dont work like they do in other games, they're incredibly unbalanced and even render some other game mechanics completely useless, all while not actually increasid the difficutly of the enemies, just making them hitting harder.
On hard, there's no loock on, and enemies deal 4x the normal damage, meaning that at the start of the game even the weakest enemies can kill you in 2 or 3 hits, stronger ones will nearly one shot you, and bosses will always one shot you, all of this until you reach a certain HP and/or defense threshold where you'll be able to sustain more hits, but this also means that until that threshold is reached, HP/defense upgrades will feel like they're doing nothing, and heals will also be almost completely useless(as example, get hit for 60% of your HP, heal 20% -or less- of your HP, get hit again and you're dead, meaning that healing didnt really help you prevent a deadly hit).
On very hard, ALL enemies will always one shot you no matter what(this is done by having the enemies deal exactly your HP, bypassing all defense stats), meaning that ANY HP or defense upgrade is completely useless, as well as any heal, cause there isn't any chance to heal, you go straight from 100% HP to being dead. This can be used to your advantage with some specific chip abilities(high level counter chip allow you to counter and negate the received damage while also dealing X% of the negated damage back to the enemy, which means rhat the higher your HP is, the higher the damage you'll deal back to the enemies with a successful counter), but those are late game cases, not something you'll be able to do during a normal playthrough.
Even if they weren't intended as such, for all intents and purposes hard and very hard are essentially more akin to challenge modes(such as "finish the game without getting hit", etc) to tackle once you are extremely familiar with the combat and equipment system to properly take advantage of it, something which will not happen until the post end game, cause nothing in the game story progresssion will ever push you to those levels.

The game is amazing if you let it do its things and let it use its weird quirks to push your buttons(the game has some weird design choices that have been intentionally implemented bioth for story purposes and to have the player immerse in what the character go trhough), but if you instead push it to try and change it to your tastes and force your habits on it, it can be anightmare, and without exaggeration, there have been people who drop/refund the game(or call it a bad game) cause they insisted on playing on hard/very hard exactluy cause "i always play my games on hardest difficulty" without knowing that this game is not harder on harder difficulties, it's just more frustrating than it needs to be.

You do you, but again, playing on harder difficulties might ruin the experience and give you a completely different impression than the one the game intended its player to have.

Like i said. Im hard headed lmao. Thats something i'll have to learn on my own.

Not that i dont believe you but youre talking to someone who spent 200+ hours to beat Rouge Trader om the hardest difficulty pre nerf xD

Not bragging or anything or saying i can beat Nier on the hardest setting. Im just saying im hard headed in that regard.

I have it and funny enough, Meta; Gear is one of my favorite series of all time. Rising is the only one on the series i haven't beat.

And its really only because of how different it is. Its not bad, its really cool but i prefer the other games in the MG series. But i still wanna go back and beat it cause it was fun af. And just to say ive beaten every Metal gear title.
I didn´t buy the MG 3 remaster, saving for an upgrade.

But did you at least fight the last boss? That was amazing :steamhappy:

Oh, the last time i played MG3 was through PCSX2, I haven't tried the remastered yet even though i want to.

Im really waiting for MGS 4 to come out soon on steam since i haven't played that one since the PS3 launched. But MGS Shadow Moses, MGS2, and 3 ive played like at least 5 times each. MGS4 ive only played once but i really enjoyed it, more then i enjoyed MGS5. The gameplay for 5 was amazing but i didnt enjoy the story as much as i did with the others in the series.
people help me, everytime i tried this game i stop. i have almost 5 hours on it. i tried this game i think 4 times, and everytime, i stop playing and i never want to touch it again.

I found the environement to be boringly grey everywhere so far, the begining is not engaging, the story so far is not engaging, the mini social thing in the building is boring, the fight are correct, but i always forget how it work everytime, so it's not something i remember.

The most far away i had to go was the boss dude i think? i don't remember well, but maybe it was an other people who look likeus? not sure, it's amost 10 years old

Last time i tried was 2018.

everytime i need to redo the begining because the sessions are way to much espaced, but everytime i don't WANT to go agan.

In this a case of "the begining is really trash" ?

This game is not that type. If you do, you'll probably more rage quit at the first boss fight, which is pretty much at the beginning, than continue playing.
It's essential to understand game mechanics and the first fight doesn't give you enough space to figure it out.
I highly advice to start on easy mode and use that Auto-Evade chip just to understand how the system works. Many of us made that mistake starting the game on normal or hard because in most games after 2010 you can do that, but this game has nice classic touch, there are no tutorials, no explanations, no checkpoints. Just like old good times, it's you who must figure things out.

Trash is only something what is really bad. If you don't like the game, that doesn't mean the game is trash. I for example don't like Devil May Cry, but that definitely doesn't make the game trash.
The enjoyment of this game depends entirely on how much you like the characters. It's one of the greatest narrative experiences I've ever had in a video game. The combat is great, don't get me wrong, but that's not the main point of the game.

You should definitely get it.
