Well, we DO have Iranians that live in the states..... Though I don't think there are (m)any americans living in Iran.... So there is *some* hope.... Just not anytime soon I should think. :D

Iranian people have no problem with Americans, they are being held hostage by a minority of radical Muslims who somehow got all the government and the military.

The average American or Iranian really could care less good or bad about the other. It is all about the politics of the day, which has nothing to do with ordinary people. Only a select few in politicians in each country, as well as the tangled alliances in the world end up dictating policy. I doubt the average American even knows much about Iran, even the hostage crisis or the events that led up to it has mostly been forgotten by anyone under 50 or 60.

As for the current conflict, there are too many players right now to make much progress in a peace. You get a temporary cease fire, and someone decides to lay mines or launch a drone attack. With the low intensity of the conflict it is easy to drag it out, which in the short run does favor Iran due to elections and the price of oil. The conflict will end sometime, and everyone will be a little poorer except people who supply the arms.

Other conflicts do seems to have slowed down since Iran and the US has decided a little live target practice was needed. The rebels in Yemen are not launching as many missiles at random ships, Ukraine even gained a little territory back, and all the militant groups like ISIS are busy in Lebanon.

Yeah, I was going to say the U.S. and Iran got along just fine (other than OPEC disputes) until the IRGC took over and started instigating international terrorism.
