It's really good to know that! I knew about images being dangerous in an email, but not steam. I'll try to keep those things in mind. Thanks for keeping the group safe!

In case you wondered why:

It encourages the spam of "Like4Like" or "Rep4Rep" comments.

Also, some people use those methods to build up a profile to make an account look older and legitimate/trusted, to then either cheat in a game or scam someone.

It's also a good way to get dodgy people to add you as a friend. Then they send you a cool looking picture (Steganography) or a link, maybe even to a legit site (Cross-Site Scripting), you open it... and they've hijacked your account and/or have access to your system.

It's why good Discord mods tell you not to open Anything anyone sends you if you don't really know/trust them completely. It's a common way to get all types of accounts (Steam, email, Discord...) hijacked.

Not to scare you from making friends, but you do need to be careful with random people adding you.
