Slackware 15.0 Released!

"Hey folks! It's been a long time, but as usual we had to get everything just exactly perfect, and you just can't rush that. We are very happy to announce the availability of the new Slackware 15.0 stable release. There have been way too many changes to even begin to cover them here, but for our dedicated user base suffice to say that you'll find things modern but also familiar. We've gone with the 5.15.19 Linux kernel (part of the 5.15.x kernel series that will be getting long-term support from the kernel developers). You'll also enjoy a refreshed desktop experience including the KDE Plasma 25th Anniversary Edition with support for Wayland sessions."

This update contains small changes according to the release notes: "Updated bootstrap files with proxy envvar parsing fixes". I also packaged the udev rule file for the steam controller (when will that go on sale?) just to be complete, I think it is rather useless on Slackware but whatever.

NOTE: if you are running 64-bit Slackware, you are requried to install my multilib packages:

An updated steamclient package today, 1.0.0.36, fixes the systray icon which was blank (icon could not be found) since a recent steam self-update.

Note that you do not need to install any other dependencies any more! The steamclient package has an internal "steam-runtime" now, which takes care of pulseaudio etc... libraries.
Only if you are running 64-bit Slackware, you are requried to install my multilib packages:

The Steam window will now close to the system tray instead of the task bar.

New steamclient package for Slackware

I posted version 1.0.0.25 of the steamclient package for Slackware to http://taper.alienbase.nl/mirrors/people/alien/slackbuilds/steamclient/pkg/14.0/

Finally, Valve is distributing this as a regular tarball now instead of a debian package.
The systray icon shows up properly now.
It looks like a 64-bit steamclient is coming soon, but the changelog tells me that will depend on the 32-bit steamclient... so what their intentions are, I have no idea.
