Look, I want to love this game. I love BTD, I've played the ♥♥♥♥ out of every mainline entry, my fondest memories of video games as a kid in school involve this franchise. But NK's launches are just... bad. Unfinished, underwhelming, missing core mechanics, slow, there's always something.

This is an amazing game. It's just too bad you don't get to experience even half of it because the levelling is just so abhorrently terrible. Ninja Kiwi *did* push a patch out which increases it, but not nearly by enough. Even with VIP status, I'm sure this would be a months-long grind just to actually have every tower to start to play the game properly.

Imagine you're playing CS:GO, and you can't purchase any rifles because you haven't unlocked them yet; but your opponents who played longer have access to them. Or playing chess without your queen, soccer without a goalie or striker; it's just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in a game NK claims to be "competitive".
Competitive environments shouldn't have pay to win or pay to be better mechanics, because then the only competition becomes "who wants to spend longer grinding with a VIP pass", because without it; lol good ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ luck.

This is a wordy review, but it's because this is a game I really want to see do well. And I have no doubt it will! But I just can't recommend anyone pick it up in the state it's in now, even if you're willing to pay. I'd come back maybe a few months down the line, once NK has had time to update XP, make sure the game isn't just Tack Shooter spam for every early round, etc.

Tl;dr don't get it now, wait until NK patches it a bunch.
