Steam Deck crash: temporary fix

Hello dear users!

As we don't have the hand on which Proton the game will boot on Steam Deck, here is tuto on how to set it up properly your Proton so you can enjoy the game.

Select Crushed in Time from the Steam Deck library carousel
Navigate to the settings cogwheel on the right side of the game page and select it
Select Properties
Go in Compatibility section and check "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compability tool
Click the dropdown button and select Proton 9
Return to your game page and check for updates if it doesn't happen automatically

Note that for now we have an issue with touchscreen not working with Proton 9 enabled. We are investigating this issue.

So far we know that the game will crash with these Proton set up:

Proton Experimental
Proton 11

Crushed In Time

Game crashes on startup

Playing on Steam Deck (or at least trying to). Just installed today. Game crashes immediately after the “when this icon is on screen, the game is saving automatically” screen

Hey everynone,

We fixed a nasty bug that slipped into the previous patch.

General:

Fixed some scene transitions that were not triggering correctly, which could cause a hardlock.

Misc:

Several visual fixes, including some animations.

Hey everyone!

We fixed another bunch of stuff in Crushed In Time. Here's the full patch note!

General

Fixed a display bug with Japanese subtitles.

Chapter 1

Fixed an animation bug that occurred while solving the lock puzzle in the mansion.

Chapter 3

Fixed a bug that prevented an objective from being marked as completed in Alpha Manor. No more soup for you. And for you, too!
Fixed a bug that caused a line of dialogue to be displayed twice.
Fixed a bug that caused a line of dialogue to be displayed twice. Sorry, it was just too tempting.

Chapter 4

Fixed a bug that prevented the sequence from being completed in the 3D editor.

Chapter 9

Fixed a bug that caused an interaction icon to reappear in Sherlock Holmes’s office after capturing the relevant Dr. Watson clone.
Fixed a bug that replayed the sound of Dr. Watson’s clone falling from the lamppost whenever he got stuck there again.
Fixed a bug that prevented a Dr. Watson clone from appearing under the pile of hair in the London back alley.
Fixed a bug that prevented the interaction icon from appearing on the flash powder in the Countryside.

Chapter 10

Fixed a bug that caused a black frame to appear during a cutscene. Basically, we gave the camera a good slap and it’s back to normal.
Fixed a bug that caused a black screen during the transition from the map to the train sequence. Yeah, this one required an even harder slap.
Fixed a display bug that caused Emma’s silhouette to appear on a window during the ending cutscene. Needless to say, it was CREEPY.

Draw Me a Pixel CRUSHED It!

Yet another hilarious point & click — click & drag? — adventure with all sorts of delightful twists and turns, and great callbacks to their previous game. I mean non-game

As much as I enjoyed "There Is No Game", I gotta be honest.

There's a lot of problems with Crushed In Time.

For one, it would crash constantly and inconsistently at random no matter how many times I change and lower the settings to avoid it.

For two, the puzzles themselves are fun for a while, but grow to become more and more tricky with the hints given to you in order to solve them, not being very helpful in the slightest.

For three, as much as I enjoy the story and the characters, the dialogue does start to become repetitive, especially when you're trying to figure out how to solve a difficult puzzle.

Overall, I was really looking forward to this game when it was first announced, but sadly, I now find it wasn't really worth waiting for.

Chapter 9 Bug - How to bypass Softlock

Hej there! So I had the same problem many other people had. I collected Watson's in Chapter 9 and often times my vacuum would suck one Watson too much into it and the game froze. This led to many restarts and the big softlock that I could not trigger the cutscene because some Watson's were never deployed in the bunker. BUT I've found a fix to get my save game working again. Infinite crash chapter 9, hardlock

Perhaps the issue already known, in that case, i apologize. However, in chapter 9, we catched almost every watson and decided to go to the train station. After we clicked it on the map, the game immediatly crashed to desktop and corrupted the save too. It is possible to get into the game, but we can't load the savegame anymore.
