Hello guys, Bought this game... it's a bit out of my usual playground but I've always loved space.... the game's great, I like most of it, but I really do not understand combat. I'm ALWAYS getting absolutely trashed by the AI. I need your help.... or I just won't be able to enjoy the game at all. I mostly play solo because I've got no schedule so I can't really coordinate with others players. I wonder, is it because this game AI is just bad or is it because I'm not getting something about the combat ? I...

I am very very late to the game but really enjoying it. However, the battle screen just freezes waiting for ‘opponent choosing strategy’. I have just two mods, ESG 1.6 and the new community mod, on a modern i9 laptop running a RTX 5090 . I have researched this on the internet but not found a solution so any help would be appreciated....

I rem the game was great but put me off because of those barebones ship - placeholder looking things. Please tell me they're gone ?

I bet they already know about this, and it's too bad it wasn't fixed in the 1.5.75 community patch. But here is what I can see just from playing a couple games. All of the gift ships, like from the academy or from other factions that you acquire through quests and such. Every ship has no modules, a blank slate and also cannot be edited. So they are basically useless, except I think they still have manpower which is useful i suppose. Also there are a bunch of tech you get that I don't even know what they ...

1: it was actually FUN 2: snappy gameplay 3: actually unique alien races with asymmetric goals & playstyles 4: actual intellectual thought being put into it, not just in the hazy philosophical scifi sense, but in a gameplay and mechanical sense 5: deeply memorable atmosphere I could probably pare that down to just three things: snappy gameplay that's actually fun, the game's memorable atmosphere, the unique races leading to unique gameplay.
