Friends, we have something to celebrate! 10 years ago, on June 20, 2016, after a crowdfunding campaign and the development of an early browser prototype, we launched Screeps in Early Access on Steam. A lot has happened since then: we've shipped many different features, expanded the world, launched a new game Screeps: Arena, and our team has weathered quite a few ups and downs. But we're proud that throughout all these years, our persistent world has kept ticking every few seconds, faithfully executing your scripts. Remarkably, there are objects in the game that were built back then and are still functioning to this day. For example, room shard0/E11S52 was settled in December 2016, and it's home to the oldest creep in the game — a creep named Mia, who was spawned on December 29, 2016, and has never died since.

While the game has a rich past, our plans for the future are no less packed: for instance, we want to improve the decorations system, introduce a new Terminal Nodes mechanic, launch two new Power Creep classes, develop a new Screeps IDE, and tackle a backlog of minor issues and unfinished work. But right now, we want to focus on our celebration. In honor of the anniversary, we have a surprise for all of you! The next Seasonal World — whose numbering we decided to skip ahead, going straight to Season 10 — will be completely free to join! If you own a Steam license for the game, you can hit the Join button without spending any Access Keys, and try your hand in a fresh, untouched world. It's a unique opportunity to start over on equal footing with every other player.

All game mechanics are identical to the regular game, with an exception that the market is not available, and terminals can send resources only to your own terminals. Every player has constant 100 CPU.

Special items called [c]Score[/c] appear periodically in all rooms throughout the world. By moving one of your creeps onto them, you collect season score points. The players who accumulate the most score points win.

The Seasonal World opens on June 1 at 17:00 UTC — you'll be able to place your spawn at that time.
