A Bethesda construiu um mundo tão denso, tão vivo e tão cheio de possibilidades que, mais de uma década depois do lançamento, ainda é difícil encontrar algo que rivaliza com a escala e a liberdade que ele oferece. Não é um jogo perfeito nos detalhes técnicos, mas é perfeito naquilo que importa: te fazer sentir que você está dentro de um mundo real, com história, política, religião e conflito. Se você ainda não jogou, ou se faz tempo desde a última vez, Skyrim continua sendo obrigatório.

Bethesda built a world so dense, so alive, and so full of possibilities that, more than a decade after its release, it's still hard to find anything that rivals the scale and freedom it offers. It's not a perfect game in its technical details, but it's perfect in what matters: making you feel like you're inside a real world, with history, politics, religion, and conflict. If you haven't played it yet, or if it's been a while since the last time, Skyrim remains essential.

Skyrim's gameplay is built on a simple and brilliant premise: you decide what your character is. There's no fixed class. Do you use a sword? Your sword skill goes up. Do you use magic? Your magic evolves. This organic progression system makes every build feel like a natural consequence of your choices, not of a character creation menu. The Shouts system adds another layer of identity to the protagonist, with powers ranging from slowing time to summoning a lightning storm. The combat itself is direct and satisfying, and the ability to mix magic in your left hand with a sword in your right opens up combinations that make every encounter a tactical decision.

Skyrim não tem duração, tem profundidade. A campanha principal pode ser concluída em 20 horas se você quiser ir direto ao ponto, mas isso seria ignorar o que torna o jogo extraordinário. As guilds, as questlines paralelas, as masmorras escondidas atrás de cachoeiras que você quase não percebeu, as cidades com suas próprias disputas políticas internas, os NPCs com rotinas e histórias próprias. Com as DLCs Dawnguard, Hearthfire e Dragonborn incluídas, é possível facilmente ultrapassar as 200 horas sem repetição real. E quem joga no PC ainda tem a vantagem de uma cena de mods que mantém o jogo renovado até hoje.

Skyrim doesn't have a length, it has depth. The main campaign can be completed in 20 hours if you want to go straight to the point, but that would mean ignoring what makes the game extraordinary. The guilds, the side questlines, the dungeons hidden behind waterfalls you almost didn't notice, the cities with their own internal political disputes, the NPCs with their own routines and stories. With the Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn DLCs included, it's easily possible to surpass 200 hours without real repetition. And those playing on PC still have the advantage of a modding scene that keeps the game fresh to this day.

A narrativa principal de Skyrim é épica no sentido mais literal da palavra: você é o Dovahkiin, o único capaz de absorver a alma dos dragões e impedir o retorno de Alduin, o Devorador do Mundo. A premissa é grandiosa, e a Bethesda tem o bom senso de nunca deixar você esquecer disso. Mas o que realmente eleva o enredo é tudo ao redor da narrativa central. A guerra civil entre os Stormcloaks e o Imperial Legion, que não tem um lado certo ou errado de verdade. O Thieves Guild com sua política interna e sua conexão com a Daedra Nocturnal. A questline dos Companions e o segredo que eles carregam. Cada facção tem uma história que funciona de forma independente e que se encaixa no mundo de um jeito que faz Skyrim parecer maior do que qualquer jogo tem direito de ser.

Skyrim's main narrative is epic in the most literal sense of the word: you are the Dovahkiin, the only one capable of absorbing the souls of dragons and preventing the return of Alduin, the World-Eater. The premise is grand, and Bethesda has the good sense to never let you forget that. But what truly elevates the story is everything surrounding the central narrative. The civil war between the Stormcloaks and the Imperial Legion, which has no truly right or wrong side. The Thieves Guild with its internal politics and its connection to the Daedric Prince Nocturnal. The Companions questline and the secret they carry. Each faction has a story that works independently and fits into the world in a way that makes Skyrim feel bigger than any game has a right to be.

Para um jogo lançado em 2011, Skyrim tinha uma direção de arte que envergonhava muita coisa que viria depois. As montanhas cobertas de neve, as tundras abertas de Whiterun, as florestas densas de Falkreath e as ruínas Dwemer cheias de maquinário enferrujado criavam biomas com identidades visuais completamente distintas. Nas versões mais recentes e remasterizadas, com iluminação volumétrica e neve que reage ao movimento, o jogo ainda consegue criar momentos de beleza genuína. Ver Dragonsreach do alto da Throat of the World continua sendo uma das imagens mais marcantes que o gênero já produziu.

For a game released in 2011, Skyrim had an art direction that put many things that came after it to shame. The snow-covered mountains, the open tundras of Whiterun, the dense forests of Falkreath, and the Dwemer ruins filled with rusted machinery created biomes with completely distinct visual identities. In the more recent remastered versions, with volumetric lighting and snow that reacts to movement, the game still manages to create moments of genuine beauty. Seeing Dragonsreach from the top of the Throat of the World remains one of the most striking images the genre has ever produced.

A trilha sonora de Jeremy Soule é, sem exagero, uma das melhores já compostas para um videogame. "Dragonborn", o tema principal, começa com um coral em língua dracônica que estabelece o tom épico do jogo em menos de 30 segundos. Mas o que impressiona é a consistência da trilha ao longo de todo o mapa: os temas de exploração são calmos e pesados ao mesmo tempo, e os temas de batalha sobem na medida certa para não se tornarem cansativos. Os efeitos sonoros dos Shouts, o rugido dos dragões e o som do vento nas tundras abertas completam uma construção de áudio que ainda serve de referência para o gênero.

Jeremy Soule's soundtrack is, without exaggeration, one of the best ever composed for a video game. "Dragonborn," the main theme, opens with a choir in Draconic language that establishes the game's epic tone in under 30 seconds. But what impresses is the consistency of the score across the entire map: the exploration themes are calm and heavy at the same time, and the battle themes rise at exactly the right level without becoming tiresome. The sound effects of the Shouts, the roar of the dragons, and the sound of wind across the open tundras complete an audio construction that still serves as a reference point for the genre.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim quite possibly one of if not the greatest RPG's made to date. I remember hen it came out and waited for Christmas to receive a copy for the Xbox 360 where me and my brother spent hours exploring the vast, open, scenic and gloriously beautiful province of Skyrim. everything from the Soundtrack score, trailers, story and gameplay elements made such an awe inspiring and magical game that as was the case in my youth turned even the worst of my days into something peaceful and happy. To this day i revere the Original Copy from 2011 over the well done remaster in 2016 as not even remastered does in live up to the greatest feelings i have when playing the original. This is a game and franchise i await being able to sit down with my kids and play Skyrim with just as my brother did with me, hopefully in the process creating memories and a connection. Bethesda really did create magic with this game and i sure hope they return to that glory again one day, but till then its For the legion and for sovngarde.
